Matariki House

A family beach weekender. A retreat and a place for extended family and friends to gather. Uses horizontal cedar applied as a rainscreen to the building envelope and incorporates robust materials that will weather naturally with time. The house sits on a cantilevered concrete slab which will allow native coastal grasses to grow up to and under the buildings edge, tying the structure into the landscape. Regional winner of the 2012 ADNZ Resene colour award.
